Here I am ready to go! I had slept pretty well and most of my nerves were gone, so that was good. There were a lot of people there at the start line. When I walked with Cassie two years ago, we started an hour earlier so it was not the same hype and excitement. There were thousands of people. My parents were there to see me off with a bunch of other people.

I get an off day today! Tomorrow is the big day. I feel so ready. I know that my 4 months of training and pushing myself are going to payoff. I am anxious for it all to start and as the hours go by, I am getting a little more nervous but I know that I am going to finish. I might not be the fastest and possibly could be the slowest person but I will cross that finish line. I just hope that I can get over my nervousness and just remember what I am accomplishing and run with confidence and keep the motivation up. No worries while I run!

I got to do an hour of yoga today. I am not very good at yoga but I was trying. Hopefully now that I have more time, I will be able to get better at it. It felt good to stretch and just relax. It is a great way to start the morning.

My last run outside before race day. We are going to have bad weather the next few days. Thank goodness it is suppose to be nice on Saturday. It was windy yesterday but that was good because I kept running through it anyway, good practice before the big day! My run felt really good. I was having problems with my calves again but I was pushing yesterday. It gave me a lot of confidence. The first few miles are the hardest for me so I know that once I get through that and keep going, I will be doing really well. I am so excited for Saturday. I am looking forward to crossing the finish line.

My last real run before the race. I started out really slow and was having a hard time. My calves were killing me and I was getting frustrated because I just did not want to keep going. Once I got past the 1.5 mile mark though I did not have to stop again! It just takes me time to get in my groove but once I am there it feels good. I hope since I start going down hill, I can make it into my groove a little earlier. I was still happy with the run and how fast I was able to do it! One week, I cann't believe it is almost here.

My goal this morning was to run 3 miles. I really wanted to do it in 33 minutes but I guess 30 more seconds is not too bad. Of course I was running at 6.5 speed the last bit to make it happen. It was good to do that though because I feel like it is good to know that I can push myself to go faster even if it is only for a few minutes ever so often. I might need to get a watch to help me with that motivation while running. I felt good today. My knee is not 100% but it seems to be getting closer. Another good run - helping with my confidence to be able to do this!

I decided to run after work because it was 70 degrees outside and since the weather has not been good, I have not spent much time outside running. I need to practice being outside for race day. It was a little windy but other than that, the weather was fabulous. I was struggling a little bit though. I have such a hard time getting myself started and when I am outside it is easier to start walking then when I am on the treadmill. I need to try a few more runs the next week to get prepared.

My goal today was 2.5 miles. I knew I only wanted to run for 30 minutes so I could lift weights and take it easy. I was happy with how far I was able to go in that time. I ran my fastest this morning and I was actually feeling pretty good. I was at a 9.22 min mile for 3 minutes and then I was at a 10 min mile for 6 minutes. I got a little tired after all this but I am glad I did it. My knee is hurting more than it has in a little bit and I am thinking it might be because of running faster. I don't know though. I feel so good when I get done running and it makes it easier to get through the day. The weight training was great also.

I was happy with my run. This is the last long one before the marathon. I felt pretty good but again, I pushed myself too hard at the beginning. I was needing an extra push at the end. I had to run on the treadmill because it was snowing and I seem to run better outside. I am hoping to get some workouts done outside this week. I don't seem to tire myself out as quickly. I did a 1 minute warmup and then ran and went up every time a new song came on. I ran at 6.0 with my favorite running song - "Girlfriend". I know that helped make my time faster. It felt really good. I wish I could get to a point that I could run that fast the whole time but it just tires me out. I do feel like I could have run at that speed a little longer but it was at the end of my time and I needed a few minutes to slow down my pace. I am not a big fan at night but only because I don't eat enough to fuel myself for the after work runs. I was not planning on running then so I did not have the right foods prepared. I tend to be tired also and my energy is pretty low. I was not sure that I was going to make it through the run but I did and it felt great.

I did not change my speed according to time like I normally do today. I changed it when the song changed. I have not idea how long I was at cetain speeds but my goal was to run 3 miles. I got up to 5.7 mph and I was doing pretty good. I am sick today so I was not sure how long I was going to be able to hold up. I was coughing some at the end so I was happy when my 3 miles came up. Again my knee was in some pain, but it was not as bad as it has been! I know taking it light really helped and I am glad that the next three weeks are going to be light days so I can be healthy for the marathon! I cannot believe it is only 3 weeks away. I only ran 6.1 miles (really I cannot remember) and walked after that for 15 mins. I was in Las Vegas and since I had decided to take it light this week, I did not want to run too much. My knee was in some pain but I was able to keep going. I might have been able to keep going but I really wanted to save my knee for the marathon. I need to let my body rest more. It felt good to get a decent run in though because I needed to know that I could do it and I missed the energy and confidence it gives me.
I lifted weights after. I worked out in the hotel gym and it was an amazing area. It was beautiful and everyone was so kind and wanting to make sure you had everything you needed, etc. I just felt great when I left.

I tried to run even though I knew I should not. I walked for 5 minutes first and thought that would make it easier (hoping my knee was a little warmer) but I only lasted 2 minutes. It actually hurt within the first few seconds but I am having a hard time being so restricted. I feel like I am not get much of a workout in. I am feeling better emotionally today and I am sure that most of that is due to the fact that even though I did not work out as hard as I normally do, I did something. I am still frustrated with my situation but I am going to keep working. I did lift a couple weights today also which as always makes me feel good.

I am taking it light this week so I decided to ride the bike. I lasted about a minute and a half before the pain was too much. This is really hard for me. It is making me sad that I cannot work out and it is amazing what it does to me emotionally and how much I hate how I feel right now that I have not been able to do anything. It still hurts and Koy thinks that I should not work it too hard for a while. I am frustrated that I am in so much pain and that all this work might be for nothing. I was not completely dissapointed that we had to walk some because my knee is still not feeling good. It was a little frustrating and my calves were hurting. Day 66
Scheduled: 18-20 miles
20 miles in 3 hours 55 minutes. (11.75 min/mile)
My goal was to do it in 4 hours. I know that I only beat it by 5 minutes but I beat it. I have been nervous about this run all week. I am not really sure why I was so nervous but my runs had not been great last week but they did improve this week. I was just glad that I finished when I walked in the door to check the time. I thought that it was going to say 11:30 so I was extremely surprised and happy when it said 11:15. I felt pretty good through out most of the run. Between miles 10 - 14 or 15, there was a group of three girls that were running behind me which kept me moving. I did not want them to pass me. It is crazy how much motivation there is when people are running around you. I hope that it also helps me during the actual race to have people around me and the adrenaline. My body started hurting during the last 5 -6 miles but I kept pushing and knew that I would not be happy with myself if I did not finish. I am proud of myself today and happy that I finished.
Physically I am hurting. Not too much more than I did when I ran 18 miles but my right knee is giving me problems today. Normally it is my left knee that hurts but it is feeling great - no pain. The rest of me is just having the pain of hurting when I walk! I am hoping that my recovery is quick.

I seriously love this class. Casey was there this week which is nice because I am use to how she teaches and she is just a great teacher. I love that Cassie is there with me and that we get to have a good time together. I just feel great when I get done and I have confidence in myself. Fun times!

Today I felt great. I wanted to run a little longer but I got to the gym late because of the weather. It was a good run and my faster runs actually felts really good. I have not been running at that faster speed for a while but it was nice to be able to start trying again at getting myself moving. I cannot remember the last time that I ran an under 11 min mile. I did start getting a little tired while I was running 6.0 and I was excited to slow down but I finished 10 minutes when I had originally only planned on running at that speed for 3 minutes. It was Daylight Savings yesterday and it was really hard to get up this morning. On top of that my stomach is still not right. I got up and was at the gym at 5 a.m. anyway. I walked more than I normally would but since I have had some kind of stomach thing going on, I had not eaten too much and did not have a ton of energy. It was a beautiful run though. It was a little chilly but nice and it was fun to run somewhere different. My stomach started hurting during my run but I kept going for a little bit longer. Really I was not by the hotel so I kind of had too! It felt pretty good though considering the circumstances.

Here is the deal. I was surprised to run at all. I woke up this morning not feeling very well. I am still not feeling well but I wanted to at least get something in. I was able to do it under my goal time which makes me really happy. I was feeling pretty good during the run. I ran a 8.1 mile route and did it faster than my 8 mile run the week before. I was feeling really good about that. My next 8.1 miles was not too bad. I was actually feeling great through most of it. I did not walk as much as I had the previous 8.1 miles but I also did not do it quite as fast. I think that I had started losing steam towards the end. I ran the last almost two miles just around my neighborhood. This is my longest run to date and I had no blisters and I was still walking. My left knee is giving me problems and I probably should have iced it but of course I did not. I will try to remember that for my 20 mile run. I am hoping to get a massage that day to help my muscle and body relax. My back is hurting me also. My back does not normally hurt so I am not sure what to think about that.
In all, I am really proud of myself. I am hoping that if I keep taking care of myself these next weeks that my recovery will go well and I will be able to not be in too much pain when I leave on my trip. This run helped me with my confidence. I needed it to keep me going.

I still love this class though and it really gives me a pick me up. The energy level is fabulous and I am able to just let myself go. It is great for letting go of things on my mind or stress. I do not do that when I am running because I have time to let my mind think about things that are going on and there is nothing to distract it.

When I was running at the higher speeds, my side ache came back and I was struggling. I also wanted to stop during that time. I don't know if it was because I was tired or because I just do not run well at a faster pace. I think that I still have some work to do to get my cardivascular better.

My run felt really good this morning. I still did not eat anything before so I need to figure something out in that area. I struggled a little bit at the beginning but by the end I was feeling good. For my last half mile, I really pushed myself to move faster. I turned on a upbeat song and ran to its speed. I need to work on pushing myself a little bit more on those long runs especially at the ends. I know I can do it, I just need to keep moving.

Not for long though because I did not have much time. I have been doing more leg work and I am starting to see the difference in my legs every day. They are definitely firming up, which is awesome!

I only ran for the 30 mins today because I wanted to lift weights. I loved lifting weights. My run went pretty well. I was pretty tired to start but I ended up feeling good. I only ran for the 30 mins today because I wanted to lift weights. I loved lifting weights. My run went pretty well. I was pretty tired to start but I ended up feeling good. I have been having side aches while running and it has been really uncomfortable. I had one today but it only lasted for about 5 minutes. I still did not eat before I ran and even though it was only 30 mins, I should still try to eat something.

I was not able to workout today. I did play basketball Thursday night though so I am going to count that as part of my workout. I just did not have time. I worked both jobs and I got stuck in traffic between them when I was hoping to get home to get a short workout. I am going to do better this week in getting all my workouts in.

Here is the deal. I got 3 hours of sleep and ate half of an energy bar before trying to run my plan of 15 miles. So as I figured out that was a terrible plan. I was not as tired as I thought I would be but I learned the true value of eating enough food. I had a tuna fish sandwich for dinner the night before which also was not enough to sustain me through the run. I started out doing pretty well but after the first hour and half I started to really struggle. I just could not get my self moving without feeling like I was going to pass out. I was going to keep going and try to get at least 14 miles but I decided that passing out was not worth it.
I started running outside but it began snowing on me within the first 5 minutes of my run so I decided to head to the gym. I hated running on the treadmill and I actually might have been able to go a little longer if I had been outside. I am not so good on the treadmill on my long runs. I cannot wait for the weather to get good enough that I won't even have to think about running that much on a treadmill.
I was upset with myself but it had taught me a valuable lesson. I need to focus more time on me and my health. I need to make time to plan ahead and get the items I need to keep me going. This was the first time that I did not attain the scheduled amount of running. I am vowing now to never have that happen again.

However, the last 3 miles about killed me. I was having a hard time wanting to continue. I ended up walking more during the last 3 miles than I wanted. I need to work on my walk speed also. I have been really slowing down during this time, especially when I am going up a hill. I cannot seem to get myself going other than to just actually make it to the top. I love these days. I enjoy the mix up in the routine and the opportunity to work other areas of my body. I did not do it with the hand weights, mainly because I forgot, and it was the first time for that. It was easier but it was nice to enjoy the workout.

On Friday when I got my assessment done, I was told that my cardiovascular was not very good and the only way to improve it was to work more in zone 3. I wish I could have run outside today but it was cold and raining and since it was just 5 miles, I thought that the gym would be okay. I do not like running on the treadmill that long. It is hot and I struggle. I think part of it though is because I work myself too hard. It is good that I push myself but I get so tired. During my last run, I slowed my pace for a little while and that really helped me be able to end. I was really starting to struggle.

I did pilates today. It felt good to do pilates and have an off day. I just do my DVD but she goes so slow that it really kills me.
I had an assessment at the gym tonight that was pretty depressing. Pretty much I was told that I am just average and that I have a lot of work to do. I did learn though that I weigh where I should weigh but I need to get leaner. I apparently have too much fat in me. I was told I have terrible cardiovascular and should not be running a marathon. Anyway, maybe now was not a good time to get my test. It is good to know that I have a lot of work to do and hopefully I can start taking the steps to getting that done.

I did not run on the treadmill so I cannot give as much detail.
It took me 2 hours 13 minutes to run 11.09 miles. Total 11.99 min/mile
This was my first run outside and it felt great. It was cold and I did not dress warm enough so when I got done, I was shacking because I was soooo cold. The air here right now is terrible too but I just could not run that long on the treadmill. I ran more than I thought that I would. I walked a little at the beginning for a warm-up and then only other time I walked was on the hills. I did run the last hill though. I was hurting a little bit when I got done and my left knee is still causing me some problems but for the most part, I was doing really well. My legs hurt until the end of the day but it is all good now. I am actually amazed how my short runs are actually helping me with my long runs. I was not sure how they would work out since I ran more days and longer week day runs then I am with this schedule. It has been very beneficial though that I do not over due it during the week.
I did not eat much for breakfast. I ate a small piece of banana bread before the run and I started feeling hungry at mile 9.5. I did not replenish my system very well later in the day either. It apparently is taking too much effort me to get enough food in my system.
I did not run on the treadmill so I cannot give as much detail.
It took me 2 hours 13 minutes to run 11.09 miles. Total 11.99 min/mile
This was my first run outside and it felt great. It was cold and I did not dress warm enough so when I got done, I was shacking because I was soooo cold. The air here right now is terrible too but I just could not run that long on the treadmill. I ran more than I thought that I would. I walked a little at the beginning for a warm-up and then only other time I walked was on the hills. I did run the last hill though. I got up at 5:00 this morning to be able to have time to get my work out in since I have to work tonight. It felt good to do something that I have not done in a while. I miss my videos on occassion. I am glad that I have the gym membership and it gives my other options but once I am done training, I cannot wait to mix it all up and add more variety.
I have lost 6 pounds. Normally when training you are not supposed to lose weight but that is okay by me. I would love to lose another 9 but I am going to be grateful for what I have lost. I am feeling really good right now and I feel like that I am losing inches and I have more energy, etc. I am sure this is in part to running but I am assuming that it has to be the eating also. I am going to look swimsuit ready when the time comes!

Today felt awesome! I ran early this morning (5:10am) and it was my longest consistent run since I started training. I struggled here and there and kept just telling myself to keep moving. For the last 7 minutes, I turned my music off and just talked to myself about motivating myself to keep going. I really wanted to be able to run 4 miles in an 11 minute mile and I did it. I was pretty tired but I was able to keep going. My left knee (the back part) hurts pretty bad when I am done. Holy Cow! I have never really done yoga before and I am not very good at it. Part of the problem is I have no idea what any of the names of the moves are so I spent a lot of time trying to see what I was supposed to be doing. It was a great workout though and I am glad that I got up bright and early this morning and headed to the gym to participate. I have a lot of work to do before I am going to be any good at it but it was a great experience. With my marathon training, I am not sure how many more times I am going to be able to go but I would like to make it more of a regular class. If you think you are strong, you should go to this class and realize that maybe you are not quite that strong. Thanks Cassie for inviting me to come to the class and I am glad that you were there for support. I am feeling nice and relaxed right now though so hopefully I can continue that through the rest of the day.

Today was my longest non-stop run. It was difficult for me at the beginning but I was able to keep going. I was motivating myself and I just kept pushing and pushing. It felt really good when I was done. I kept the towel over the time and distance for most of it and I think that helped me because I really had no idea how long I had been on there. I probably could have kept going and that was a great feeling. I think that I am getting better. My legs are hurting though. When I first start running, my calves are killing me but eventually it is not as bad. I have hard time thinking that my body is just going to continue to hurt for 10 more weeks.

I got up at 4:50 this morning to work out. I won't have time later today but I still wanted to get something in. I did not get as long of a work out as I wanted but I was so tired that I decided something was better than nothing. I was planning on running right after work so I had an apple around 3 to help out but I ended up meeting with my friend at Starbucks and was not able to even start running until after 6:30 so I was feeling pretty hungy by the time I got home. My body was a little sore afterwards and my legs are pretty tired but for the most part, I am feeling pretty good. I did not stretch very well but every time I bend over even just a little bit, etc, my head begins to pound and it hurts so bad.

Today was really tough for me. I have not run this far since August (half marathon). I was pretty disappointed with myself. As you can see I started out well but ended terrible. I lost all energy, etc. I pushed myself a little too hard at the beginning and just could not keep it up at the end. During my 10 minutes run, I started not being able to breathe very well and was feeling like I might not make it much longer. I was obviously not ready for this push. I needed to manage my run/walk better to keep my energy up. I guess I was disappointed because I was hoping to do better. I have to keep it all in perspective though. It is only the first week of training and I have been sick. I also need to remember the whole part of training is to work up to being able to do better and not get it all in the first couple weeks. I still achieved my goal so I guess that has to make it feel a little bit better.

I was not sure that I should do the stairs because I thought that they would make my legs hurt for my next day run. Cassie is trying to help push me though. Thanks, Cassie. I love to lift weights. It is extra great when Cassie is there too because she pushes me a lot to lift more, etc. It was a good workout.

I had just eaten lunch and am still not breathing well. I also wanted to see how long it would take me to get to 3 miles when I run less. I got to 3 miles at 36 minutes. I want to plan on running more that that obviously so I should be able to reach my goal of run/walk average of 12 minutes per mile. I am having a hard time getting a true indication of where I am though since I cannot seem to shake this cold. I wanted to run more today but really I decided that just finishing was better than nothing.
Considering it was a holiday, I ate pretty well. I actually went out for lunch and dinner but I left both not feeling stuffed. I tried better to balance my intake. I felt pretty good about that. I am glad that the holidays are over though. No more sweet surprises on the doorstep, etc. Now the fridge won't be too full either and I can get some good things for the body!
